Elonas Šatas was appointed a Deputy Chairman and a Member of the Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania for the second six-years term starting on 23 August 2017. Prior to this, Mr Šatas had been the Head of the Law and Competition Policy Division at the Competition Council for four years. He also delivered lectures on Competition Law at Mykolas Romeris University from 2010 to 2011.
Having graduated with a Bachelor degree in Humanities from Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences in 2000, Mr Šatas continued his studies at Mykolas Romeris University and graduated with a Master of Laws degree in 2003.
Mr Šatas joined the Competition Council in 2003: starting as a Chief Expert in the Consumer Goods Division, in 2005 he was promoted to the position of the Head of State Aid Division and had been working in the Division for two years.
Mr Šatas has been part of some international projects, he is also frequently invited as a guest speaker to competition advocacy events. Fluent in English and Russian.
