Jūratė Šovienė was appointed a Member of the Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania for the tenure of six years starting on 3 September 2013; on 10 September 2013 she was appointed a Deputy Chairman. It is her second term in the capacity of the Council Member.
Mrs Šovienė joined the Competition Council as a Chief Expert of the Industry and Transport Division in 1999. Later on Mrs Šovienė worked in the Legal Division. In 2003 Mrs Šovienė became the Head of the Legal Division, and in 2007 was appointed a Member of the Competition Council for the first tenure of six years. From February to April 2011 she was the Acting Chairman of the Competition Council.
In 2009 Mrs Šovienė was giving lectures on Competition Law enforcement at Kaunas University of Technology, the Faculty of Economics and Management. In 2010–2011 she taught Administrative Process Law at Mykolas Romeris University.
In 2001 Mrs Šovienė graduated with a Master of Laws degree from Vilnius University, the Faculty of Law.
Prior to starting her career in the Competition Council, Mrs Šovienė worked as an assistant legal counsellor at a private company.
Mrs Šovienė has been part of various international projects and a guest speaker in different competition advocacy events. Mrs Šovienė has been an author of a number of articles in the specialised monthly legal magazine “Juristas”. From time to time she also contributes to the major national news portals on competition issues. Fluent in English and Russian.
