The Lithuanian competition authority Konkurencijos taryba cleared the acquisition of 99,7 per cent of UAB Baltic food partners shares and sole control by the Netherlands-based company RREI Holding B.V.

On April 5 Konkurencijos taryba received merger notification. Having evaluated the circumstances related to the transaction, the authority acknowledged that the intended merger would not create or strengthen the dominant position, or significantly restrict competition on the relevant markets.

RREI Holding B.V., which belongs to Vičiūnai Group, is a holding company. Related undertakings operate not only in Lithuania, but also in other European and Asian countries: they produce fish and seafood, agricultural products (grains, fodder, eggs, chicken) and other food products (pizzas, dumplings, surimi, bread and confectionery). In addition, the aforementioned companies sell and distribute raw fish materials, as well as provide the services of corporate management, catering, rental of premises and real estate, transport and logistics, sports, etc.

Baltic food partners in Lithuania is engaged in the production and wholesale of salted, smoked, marinated fish and other fish or seafood products (salads, pâté, spreads, surimi products).

The intended merger must be notified to the Konkurencijos taryba and clearance must be obtained if the combined aggregate income of merging parties in the business year preceding the merger exceeds EUR 20 million and the aggregate income of each of at least two merging parties in the business year preceding the merger exceeds EUR 2 million.
